OMDC Education Center: Empowering Futures - Quality Education for Underprivileged Children (Grades 1st to 7th)

The "Empowering Dreams – Modern School for Underprivileged Children" project aims to provide quality education to children in rural Muslim communities, with a focus on inclusivity, accessibility, and transformative educational practices. Targeting children between the ages of 5 and 12, the project will establish OMDC Education Center, a modern school in Baharana, Nimapada Tehsil, Puri District, and Odisha. The academy will foster an environment of learning, growth, and opportunity.
OMDC Education Center will offer education from grades 1 to 7, primarily in Urdu and Hindi for primary education, with the curriculum thereafter following a comprehensive, modern education structure aligned with Northern education standards. The school will equip students with both foundational knowledge and essential life skills, creating opportunities for success in both personal and academic pursuits.
This project is designed to have a lasting impact on marginalized communities by enhancing educational accessibility and equity. The school will serve as a model for similar initiatives across other underserved regions in Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal.
Key Features of OMDC Education Center
• Total Student Capacity: 300 students, with a 60% focus on local students and 40% for out-of-state students.
• Free Education for Underprivileged: 70% of the students will receive free education, covering all educational expenses, including books, uniforms, and school supplies. This will cater to those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Nominal Fee Education: The remaining 30% of students will be charged a nominal fee, ensuring affordability while still maintaining the quality of education.
• Primary Education: Instruction will be offered in Urdu/Hindi, ensuring that students from rural Muslim communities can thrive in their native languages before transitioning to a broader curriculum.
• Secondary Education: Following primary education, courses will continue with modern, comprehensive academic subjects, with students receiving government-equivalent certifications upon successful completion of the 7th-grade board exams.
• Modern Facilities: The school will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and digital learning tools to provide students with a well-rounded education.
• Cultural Enrichment: The school will also offer subjects in Yoga, Sports, Debate, and Islamic Culture to nurture the mind, body, and spirit of students, fostering holistic development.
• Food, Accommodation, and Boarding: Free food, accommodation, and boarding will be provided to eligible students under the poverty line. This includes complete accommodation for students from across India who meet the criteria for admission.
• Scholarships and Support: Scholarships will be available, ensuring that even the most disadvantaged students have access to the resources they need to succeed.
• Equivalence to Government Certification: The academic certification from OMDC Education Center will be recognized and equivalent to government-issued certification, allowing students to continue their educational journey or pursue careers with the same validity as those from government schools.

Key Staff for Accommodation:
• Cooks (3 staff): Preparing meals for boarding students. Responsible for ensuring healthy and nutritious food is served at the designated times.
• Kids Caretakers (2 staff): Supervising students in the dormitories, ensuring students’ well-being, hygiene, and proper conduct. They will also assist in organizing recreational activities.
• Security Guards (2 staff): Providing security for the boarding students. Ensuring that the premises are safe at night and providing emergency assistance if required.
• Tea Boy & Office Boy (1 each): Assisting with serving tea and running errands for the students.
Accommodation Services:
• Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided to the 150 boarding students by the school kitchen.
• Security: Continuous monitoring by security staff to ensure students are safe.
• Caretaking: Kids caretakers will look after the children’s daily needs, such as assisting them with settling into their rooms, ensuring they have all required supplies, and checking up on them regularly.
4. Day Scholars:
• Number of Day Scholars: 150
• Services for Day Scholars:
o Classroom Education: Day scholars will receive the same level of educational services as the boarding students.
o Sports & Physical Education: Day scholars will participate in physical activities, sports, and games with the PT Teacher and Sports Teacher.
5. Staffing Requirements Breakdown:

1. Classroom Teachers (4):
• One teacher per class. Each teacher will handle a specific subject (Science, Math, English, and another subject like Social Studies).
• The teachers will prepare lesson plans, manage classroom activities, assign homework, and evaluate students.
2. Headmaster (1):
• The headmaster will manage the entire school operation. This includes overseeing the academic, administrative, and accommodation sections, ensuring smooth running, and setting educational goals.
3. Clerks (2):
• Clerks will handle all administrative duties like maintaining student records, processing attendance, managing files, and communicating with parents and staff.


4. Accounts (1):
• The account manager will handle the financial transactions of the school, such as tuition collection, payroll, and budgeting.
5. PT & Sports Teachers (2):
• These two staff members will work on physical activities, organize inter-school competitions, physical fitness, and sports day events.
6. Religious Education Teacher (1):
• The Muslim Religious Teacher will provide religious education and ensure students receive adequate guidance regarding Islamic studies and prayers.
7. Cooks (3):
• Three cooks will be responsible for preparing food for the boarding students. They will maintain food hygiene, handle the menu planning, and serve nutritious meals.
8. Kids Caretakers (2):
• The caretakers will supervise the students living in the accommodation. They will ensure that students maintain discipline, help with personal hygiene, and organize recreational activities.
9. Security Guards (2):
• Ensuring the safety of the entire school compound, especially the hostel section where students live overnight.
10. Support Staff (Tea Boy, Office Boy):
• Tea Boy: Responsible for providing tea and beverages to staff and students.
• Office Boy: Helps with general tasks around the office such as photocopying, filing, and running errands.
6. Key Assumptions:
• Classroom Setup: Each classroom will have a teacher for specific subjects. The student-to-teacher ratio is 1:30 for day scholars.
• Accommodation: The boarding section will have adequate facilities for 150 students, with a high level of supervision and care.
• Security: All areas of the school, including the boarding sections, will be monitored by security guards.
