This fundraiser is being organized by
THE WHITE ROCK MUSLIM ASSOCIATION

Empowering Our Mosques, Empowering Our Community

How we Began

The WRMA was established in 2006 by a small group of Muslim community members and residents of White Rock. At the time, the members gathered in a small Musalla in a South Surrey home, where Friday prayers were held weekly.

How we Grew

The WRMA experienced significant growth in membership leading to the decision by the administration to secure a larger facility to accommodate the growing Muslim community and act as a gathering place for the adults and youth in the area. The WRMA Community Centre was established in 2015, where members hold regular prayer services, community events, celebrations, family camps and Islamic education classes. In addition to WRMA's general activities, they are active in the wider non-Muslim community through regular annual dawah events and participation in social causes such as White Rock Beach Clean-ups.

Where we are Headed

As we continue our journey, we have a few tasks ahead, and some of the pertinent functions include:

  • Repayment of the loan of $322,000 in the next 12-24 months.

  • Organizing and expanding our Masjid’s role as a centre hub for religious services, seminars, and other community & health promotion services for all age groups.

About The White Rock Muslim Association

About

The White Rock Muslim Association (WRMA) was established in 2006. The membership is open to residents of BC. At the time, the members gathered in a small Musalla in South Surrey, where Friday prayers were held. Over the years, the White Rock Muslim Association became more active, began hosting regular community events, including summer picnics and Eid celebrations, and participated in volunteer activities such as food drives and a Crescent Beach clean-up initiative. The White Rock Muslim Association also began to expand its Islamic activities, such as Ramadan Taraweeh prayers and Eid Salah.

The WRMA focuses heavily on the Islamic education of its members and their families. The WRMA provides weekly Halaqat for the brothers in the community, which includes take-home assignments and an opportunity for the youth to develop a strong sense of brotherhood from a young age. Similarly, the sisters’ weekly Halaqa is open to all ages and includes tajweed, seerah, and other relevant topics.

Islamic Relief works with communities to strengthen their resilience to calamities, and we provide vital emergency aid when disasters occur.

We help the impoverished access basic services, including education, water and sanitation, as well as healthcare. We provide lasting routes out of poverty through our sustainable development schemes. Our integrated approach to progress is transforming communities worldwide.

We tackle the root causes of poverty and make sure that the world’s most vulnerable people have real influence in both our programs and advocacy.

Our key values, of compassion, justice, custodianship, sincerity and excellence – a critical part of our Islamic faith - inspire us each and every day to create positive change and remember the sanctity of life.

In line with Islamic teachings on the value of every human life, we provide assistance to whoever needs it most, regardless of race, religion or gender. We work to transform and save lives of people in crisis both Canada and across the world.

Let us share the khair from the blessings Allah has bestowed upon us.
