Who Are We?

The Inspire volunteer abroad program at Islamic Relief Canada is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home.  Over the past 7 years, we have taken 40 cohorts to 11 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness while allowing them to serve their communities locally and globally. 

Through this experience, IRC volunteers will engage directly with vulnerable communities in Colombia to better understand their circumstances and raise awareness. Support our volunteers' efforts and take part in supporting these noble causes! 

What is this for?

This fundraising effort supports Islamic Relief Canada’s work with orphaned children and vulnerable communities worldwide, including emergency relief and long-term development projects. Your contributions help provide education, psychosocial support, community rehabilitation, and essential aid such as food and hygiene kits. These initiatives address critical needs, build resilience, and promote long-term self-reliance. Your support brings hope and lasting change to those who need it most.
$80 can cover clothing gifts for an orphan
$90 can cover the expenses for an orphan for 1 month
$270 can cover the expenses for an orphan for 3 months
$540 can cover the expenses for an orphan for 6 months

In Colombia, vulnerable communities continue to face displacement, violence, and a lack of basic services, exacerbating poverty and hardship. Through this fundraising initiative, we aim to extend support to these communities, providing vital resources to help rebuild lives and create sustainable futures for those affected by these ongoing challenges.

What will I be doing?

During the field study, we will prioritize offering psychosocial support and educational activities for orphans, alongside distributing food, clothing, and hygiene items. We will also engage in various community service initiatives and visit local projects to gain a deeper understanding of the ongoing efforts in the region.

Inspire Program

Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Before volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with. While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment.  

This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.

Islamic Relief

Since 1992, Islamic Relief Canada and Islamic Relief Worldwide have been dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities through a range of vital programs, including WASH assistance, healthcare, shelter construction, winterization aid, and livelihood development. We also address food insecurity by providing essential food distributions, including during Ramadan and Qurbani. These initiatives help families rebuild their lives and provide critical relief in times of need.

A key focus of our work is supporting orphaned children, who are particularly at risk of malnutrition, food insecurity, and abuse. Our programs offer education, psychosocial support, and safe living conditions, empowering orphans and vulnerable children to build a better future. Together, we can help create lasting change, fostering resilience and self-reliance in communities worldwide.
