This February, a 7.8 magnitude wreaked havoc across the countries of Turkey and Syria. This resulted in a death toll of over 50,000, over 100,000 injured and has displaced over 600,000 people. Over 2,800 buildings have collapsed in Turkey, including hospitals, schools, and government buildings. Deadly earthquakes struck Southern Turkey and Northern Syria
The Turkey Syria earthquake from February 6 has caused extensive damage across multiple cities and towns. Compounded by the recent earthquake on February 20, even more people and infrastructure have been buried under the rubble, and rescue operations have resumed in a desperate bid to save lives.
Over 50,000 people have been confirmed dead across both Turkey and Syria, with a total of 24 million people impacted by the earthquake. Time is of critical essence for those impacted by the earthquake. International aid is needed now in order to reach and save as many lives as possible.
Islamic Relief is on the ground
Over the years, Islamic Relief Canada has reached 1.3 million people in Syria and 110,000 individuals in Turkey to date. In Syria, our teams provide emergency and development support within Aleppo and Idlib regions. In Turkey, we are based in Istanbul and Gaziantep.
Islamic Relief teams are on the ground right now responding to the disaster in both Turkey and Syria. We are providing medical supplies to local hospitals, food packs and shelter items to displaced families, and emergency water trucking.

In Turkiye, we have presence in Islahiye and Nurdagi of Gazientep, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Adiyaman, and Samandag, Antakya and Altinosu of Hatay province.
