This fundraiser is being organized by
The Inspire Volunteer Abroad Program
Islamic Relief Canada is dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities through a range of impactful initiatives. These include organizing educational workshops for children and youth, offering psychosocial support programs, and distributing food and essential supplies.
The students from the Edmonton Islamic Academy are embarking on a transformative journey to provide aid for orphans and vulnerable communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This trip is not only an opportunity to support those in need but also a chance to inspire leadership and cultivate future changemakers. By actively engaging in this meaningful work, these students are strengthening their connection to their Ummah and laying the foundation for a brighter, more compassionate future.
Your generous contributions play a vital role in empowering these communities and fostering their long-term development. Together, we can bring hope and relief to those who need it most. Join us in making a meaningful difference!
What is this for?
This fundraising effort supports Islamic Relief Canada’s community development projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Islamic Relief's global emergency initiatives, addressing the most urgent needs worldwide. Your contributions will directly empower vulnerable communities, especially children and youth, through educational programs, psychosocial support activities, community service projects, and the distribution of food and hygiene kits. These initiatives aim to tackle socio-economic challenges, build resilience, and foster long-term self-reliance.
This year also marks a significant milestone: the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre. As we reflect on this somber event, we are reminded of the importance of our collective efforts to bring hope and dignity to those affected by conflict. Your support will make a lasting impact, helping to build a better future for those who need it most.
A portion of the funds raised will help cover the expenses of orphans in Bosnia and Herzegovina and potentially in other countries where the need is greatest.
$90 can cover the expenses for an orphan for 1 month
$270 can cover the expenses for an orphan for 3 month
$540 can cover the expenses for an orphan for 6 month
$1,080 can sponsor an orphan for 1 year
Edmonton Islamic Academy (EIA)
Edmonton Islamic Academy (EIA) is more than just a school; it is a place where students grow academically, spiritually, and personally. By combining Alberta’s curriculum with Islamic, Quranic, and Arabic studies, EIA equips students to excel while staying true to their faith and values. The academy emphasizes the development of leadership, compassion, and responsibility, encouraging students to embrace their identity and strive to make a meaningful difference in the world.
The Inspire Program will provide students with unique opportunities to put their learning into action. Students will engage with communities in need, fostering empathy, teamwork, and a sense of global citizenship. These experiences will help them develop a deeper understanding of their role as changemakers, empowering them to contribute positively to their communities and the Ummah. By participating in these meaningful initiatives, students will be prepared to lead with integrity and purpose in every aspect of their lives.
The Inspire volunteer abroad program is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home. Over the past 7 years, we have taken 40 cohorts to 9 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness, and serving their communities locally and globally.
The volunteers will be engaging directly with vulnerable communities and orphan children in Bosnia to learn about their situation, and to raise awareness.
Support our volunteers and take part in supporting this noble cause!
This fundraising effort supports Islamic Relief Canada’s community development projects in Bosnia, as well as Islamic Relief's global emergency initiatives wherever the need is greatest. Your contributions will directly empower vulnerable communities, particularly children and youth, through educational programs, psychosocial support activities, community service projects such as school and home rehabilitation, and the distribution of food and hygiene kits. These initiatives address socio-economic challenges, build resilience, and promote long-term self-reliance. Your support will make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need, where it is needed most.
Over the duration of the field study, we will focus on providing orphans with psychosocial support and educational activities in addition to the distribution of food and hygiene items and other community service activities.
Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Prior to volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with.
While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment.
This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.

Islamic Relief has been working in Bosnia since 1993 and has implemented projects that address healthcare, food insecurity, education, livelihoods, and orphan care. After the war, we established an office in Sarajevo and served communities to rebuild homes and schools and provide Ramadan and Qurbani food packages.
Through our humanitarian and development projects, we implement food security, livelihood, non-food items, education, and psycho-social support.
We prioritize the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. In 2005, we launched our orphans’ sponsorship program to provide assistance to child-headed households, girl children and homes with infants and younger children.
We provide support to the household by offering skills training and development to guardians so that they can become self-sufficient.
Islamic Relief works with communities to strengthen their resilience to calamities, and we provide vital emergency aid when disasters occur.
We help the impoverished access basic services, including education, water and sanitation, as well as healthcare. We provide lasting routes out of poverty through our sustainable development schemes. Our integrated approach to progress is transforming communities worldwide.
We tackle the root causes of poverty and make sure that the world’s most vulnerable people have real influence in both our programs and advocacy.
Our key values, of compassion, justice, custodianship, sincerity and excellence – a critical part of our Islamic faith - inspire us each and every day to create positive change and remember the sanctity of life.
In line with Islamic teachings on the value of every human life, we provide assistance to whoever needs it most, regardless of race, religion or gender. We work to transform and save lives of people in crisis both Canada and across the world.
Let us share the khair from the blessings Allah has bestowed upon us.
