A Future of Love for South Africa’s Orphans

This campaign is very close to my heart. I am raising support for orphaned children in South Africa—children who wake up each day without the comfort of a parent, yet still carry hope, resilience, and dreams for their future. Spending time learning about their stories moved me deeply, and I felt called to do something meaningful, something that could remind them they are not alone. Through this campaign, we hope to provide the essentials many of us take for granted: nourishing meals, safe shelter, access to education, healthcare, and spaces where they can feel cared for and supported. But beyond these needs, this is about giving them something even more powerful—a sense of belonging, dignity, and hope. Every contribution is an act of love. It tells a child that someone, somewhere, sees them, believes in them, and wants a brighter future for them. I truly believe that when we come together with compassion, we can change the course of a child’s life. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us create a future where these children feel safe, valued, and deeply cared for.

A Future of Love for South Africa’s Orphans

This campaign comes from a place deep in my heart.

I keep thinking about the children in South Africa who are growing up without parents—without the daily reassurance of being held, guided, or told they are loved. And I ask myself: if this were my child, my family, my story… what would I hope someone in the world would do?

I would hope they wouldn’t look away.

This is why I’m doing this. Not out of obligation, but out of love and responsibility as a human being. These children deserve warmth, education, nourishment, safety, and the simple dignity of knowing their lives matter. They deserve opportunities to dream, to play, to learn, and to grow into who they are meant to become.

Every donation, every share, every kind word becomes part of a circle of care around them. It becomes a meal, a book, a safe place, a reminder that they are seen and not forgotten.

To me, this is not just a campaign. It is a promise—that we will stand beside them, that we will care, and that we will help carry a piece of their future with compassion and hope. As 13 century Persian poet says " Be like a river in generosity and help.”

Thank you for opening your heart and being part of this with me

Join us in making a meaningful difference.

Who Are We?

The Inspire volunteer abroad program at Islamic Relief Canada is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home. Over the past 7 years, we have taken 40 cohorts to 9 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness while allowing them to serve their communities locally and globally.
Through this experience, IRC volunteers will engage directly with vulnerable community members and orphans in South Africa in order to better understand their circumstances and raise awareness. Support our volunteers and take part in supporting this noble cause!

What is this for?

This fundraising effort supports Islamic Relief Canada’s community development projects in South Africa, as well as Islamic Relief's global emergency initiatives wherever the need is greatest. Your contributions will directly empower vulnerable communities, particularly children and youth, through educational programs, psychosocial support activities, community service projects such as school and home rehabilitation, and the distribution of food and hygiene kits. These initiatives address socio-economic challenges, build resilience, and promote long-term self-reliance. Your support will make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need, where it is needed most.

Your donation helps our rightsholders in various way; $1080 is used to sponsor an orphan for a year, whilst the rest of the money is used towards deliverables in the country. Additional money may be used in other high-need areas in other countries.

What will I be doing?

Over the duration of the field study, we will focus on providing orphans with psychosocial support and educational activities in addition to house rehabilitation, distribution of food and hygiene items and other community service activities.

Inspire Program

Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Prior to volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with.
While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment.
This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.

Islamic Relief: South Africa

Islamic Relief has been working in South Africa since 2004, and has implemented several projects that address healthcare, food insecurity, education, livelihoods, and orphan care. Over the past 19 years, Islamic Relief’s operations in South Africa have been aimed at developing and creating sustainable long-term solutions for impoverished communities, including handing out provisional hampers. We prioritize the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. In 2005, we launched our orphans’ sponsorship program to provide assistance to households that are child-headed, and those that house female children, infants, and younger children. In order to do this, we provide guardians of the households the education and training they need to acquire the necessary skills to become self-sufficient.
