Bring Water, Save Lives: A Community Well for Somalia

Severe droughts in Somalia have left families without clean water, forcing women and children to walk miles just to survive. The crisis is worsening, increasing the risk of dehydration, disease, and food shortages. 2.9 million people have been displaced due to conflict, insecurity, droughts, and floods (UNHCR, 2021) This Ramadan, as University of Alberta students, we are fundraising to build a community well in collaboration with the Somalia Students’ Association. This well will provide a sustainable source of clean water for an entire village. This is Sadaqa Jariya lasting charity that continues to benefit others for years to come. “And whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity.” (Quran 5:32) With Islamic Relief Canada on the ground, your donation can bring clean water, prevent disease, and transform lives.
