With the recent outbreak of violence in Myanmar, and ongoing systematic persecution of the Rohingya, more than a million have fled to various neighboring regions, particularly Bangladesh. However, resources to accommodate the large number of asylum seekers are scarce and humanitarian assistance is direly needed. Our campaign aims to combat this by raising funds to support displaced Rohingya families that have been scarred not only by the genocide in Myanmar, but also by the struggle to live suitably in Bangladesh amidst various shortages, such as the monsoon floodings destroying numerous Rohingya homes and shelters and lack of basic needs: food, clean water, and basic medical attention. To play our part as positive changemakers, the money we raise will go towards rebuilding safe housing, and providing those essential resources so many Rohingya can’t access. In addition, our campaign seeks to spread awareness about the less talked about struggles of the Rohingya community today and encourage others to educate themselves and take action. By raising awareness and funds, our campaign seeks to meaningfully impact the suffering Rohingya (and by extension, an uninvolved society) and help restore hope to those who were afflicted by these tribulations.
