Support Displaced Children in Malaysia

Islamic Relief Canada is committed to supporting vulnerable communities through impactful and sustainable initiatives. In Malaysia, these efforts include educational workshops for children and youth, psychosocial support programs, rehabilitation of schools and homes, and the distribution of food and essential supplies.
Your generous contribution plays a vital role in empowering displaced and marginalized communities particularly children and young people and in fostering long-term development. Together, we can bring hope, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most. Join us in making a meaningful difference.

Who Are We?

he Inspire volunteer abroad program is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home. Over the past 7 years, we have taken 40 cohorts to 9 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness and serving their communities locally and globally.
Through this experience, IRC volunteers will be engaging directly with refugee and stateless children in Malaysia to learn about their situation, and to raise awareness.

Support our volunteers and take part in supporting this noble cause!

What is this for?

This fundraising initiative supports Islamic Relief Canada’s community development projects in Malaysia, specifically in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, as well as Islamic Relief’s global emergency responses where the need is greatest. Your contributions will directly support vulnerable communities especially children and youth through educational programs, psychosocial support activities, community service initiatives such as school and learning center rehabilitation and distribution of food aid and hygiene kits.
These initiatives address socio-economic challenges, strengthen community resilience, and promote long-term self-reliance. Your support will have a lasting impact on the lives of those most in need, wherever support is required most.
Your donation helps our rightsholders in various ways; $1080 is used to sponsor an orphan for a year, whilst the rest of the money is used towards deliverables in the country. Additional money may be used in other high-need areas in other countries.

What will I be doing?

During the program, I will engage in educational, recreational, and creative activities with children at selected refugee and stateless learning centers in Malaysia. Volunteers will interact with refugee, stateless and local Malay communities, gaining insight into their lived experiences and personal stories. The program offers a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by these communities and highlights the critical role of education in fostering hope, resilience, and future opportunities for children

Inspire Program

Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Prior to volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with. While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, rightsholder home visits, and building refurbishment. This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with rightsholders and project staff.

Islamic Relief in Malaysia

Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) has been working alongside refugee and displaced communities since 2015, delivering critical support through food assistance, hygiene kits, healthcare services, shelter, and education. With the support of Islamic Relief Canada (IRC), IRM has implemented impactful initiatives, including the provision of educational supplies, nutritious school meals, mobile learning classes, health screenings, and school rehabilitation directly supporting refugee children from Rohingya, Somali, and Syrian communities.
In Sabah, this support has also been extended to stateless communities by improving learning centers to ensure safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly environments. These efforts create spaces where children can learn with dignity and feel supported. To further strengthen educational access, IRM established the Refugee Intellectual Skills and Excellence (RISE) program, which provides refugee children primarily from the Rohingya community with a safe, flexible, and nurturing learning environment. Through core academic learning and vocational skills development, RISE addresses educational gaps and equips children with essential skills for the future.
In response to inadequate learning conditions faced by stateless students in Sabah, where over 30 learning centers operate with limited resources, IRM has begun upgrading selected centers by enhancing infrastructure, improving classroom facilities, installing proper sanitation, and providing essential amenities. These improvements create more conducive learning spaces where volunteers and communities work together to support children’s growth and resilience.
