Islamic Relief has been working in Lebanon since 2006, supporting communities through war, displacement, and the current crisis. At this moment, we are working alongside local partners and international humanitarian organizations to provide life-saving aid to impacted communities in southern Lebanon.
Lebanon is Under Attack (Last updated: March 2026)
Over the past couple of days, deadly airstrikes have targeted Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, Tyre, Nabatieh, and several villages in southern Lebanon. According to the Ministry of Health, at least 31 people were killed and 149 injured in these attacks.
Thousands of families have fled from their homes in Beirut and nearly 50 villages in the south following bombardments and evacuation warnings. This adds to more than 64,000 people who are still displaced from earlier escalations. The situation remains tense and unpredictable, with concerns that the conflict could expand further.

Who Are We?
The Inspire volunteer abroad program at Islamic Relief Canada is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home. Over the past 7 years, we have taken 40 cohorts to 9 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness while allowing them to serve their communities locally and globally.
Through this experience, IRC volunteers will engage directly with vulnerable community members and orphans in Bosnia in order to better understand their circumstances and raise awareness. Support our volunteers and take part in supporting this noble cause!
What will I be doing?
As part of the Inspire Volunteer Abroad Program, I will be travelling to Bosnia. Over the duration of the field study, we will focus on providing orphans with psychosocial support and educational activities in addition to house rehabilitation, distribution of food and hygiene items and other community service activities.
Inspire Program
Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Prior to volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with.
While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment.
This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.
