Who Are We?

Islamic Relief has been working in Bosnia since 1993 and has implemented projects that address healthcare, food insecurity, education, livelihoods, and orphan care. After the war, we established an office in Sarajevo and served communities to rebuild homes and schools and provide Ramadan and Qurbani food packages.

Through our humanitarian and development projects, we implement food security, livelihood, non-food items, education, and psycho-social support. 
We prioritize the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. In 2005, we launched our orphans’ sponsorship program to provide assistance to child-headed households, girl children and homes with infants and younger children.

We provide support to the household by offering skills training and development to guardians so that they can become self-sufficient.

What is this for?

This project supports families in Bosnia, providing them with a sustainable source of income and food. Many of these families are survivors of war and still face economic hardship. By equipping them with the tools and training to grow and sell their own produce, we’re helping restore dignity, independence, and long-term stability.Your support will directly impact lives for generations to come.

Islamic Relief has a diverse range of livelihood projects in place, from agriculture and animal rearing resources to equipment needed to increase income-generating opportunities and food security for their families and the communities at large. We also provide greenhouses, seeds (wheat and corn), livestock (chicken, sheep, and cows), tools and specialized training.

Inspire Program

Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Prior to volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with.

While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment.  

This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.
