Islamic Relief in Bosnia & Herzegovina

Bosnia has endured war, genocide, ethnic cleansing, and one of Europe’s worst humanitarian crises in recent history. Today, refugees and migrants alike, continue to face food insecurity, unstable housing, and freezing winter conditions.

Since 1993, Islamic Relief has remained dedicated to serving these vulnerable communities with an active mission on the ground addressing food insecurity, healthcare, education, and orphan care. Through our initiatives, we distribute food and essentials, rehabilitate schools & homes, offer psychosocial support to impacted children, and much more.

We also prioritize the needs of orphans and vulnerable children, launching our orphan sponsorship program in 2005 to support child-headed households, girls at risk, and families caring for infants or small children.

What is “Inspire”?

The Inspire volunteer abroad program at Islamic Relief Canada is a hands-on learning experience that enables volunteers (like me ~ Taha) to serve communities both locally and globally. Over the past seven years, 40 cohorts have traveled to nine countries to learn directly from teams on the ground.

Through this program, volunteers raise funds and awareness for a cause locally before engaging directly with the vulnerable communities and orphans in that respective country (ie: Bosnia), allowing volunteers to better understand their realities and amplify their stories. Support our volunteers and be part of this meaningful cause!

What will my donations go to?

This campaign supports Islamic Relief Canada’s community development projects in Bosnia, as well as global emergency initiatives; where the need is greatest. Donations empower vulnerable communities, with a focus on children, through initiatives like educational programs, psychosocial support, school and home rehabilitation, and the distribution of food and hygiene kits. These initiatives address socio-economic challenges, building communal resilience and promoting long-term self-reliance.

A portion of the funds ($1,080) sponsors an orphan for one year, while the remaining donations support the on-the-ground mission. All funds go directly to humanitarian efforts and NONE are used for funding travel or any kind of personal volunteer expenditure.
