A Water Well in Memory of Rehana Nabi and Usman Bakshi
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
With heavy hearts, we invite you to join us in building a water well in memory of late Rehana Nabi and her son, Usman Bakshi.
Rehana was a deeply loving, caring, and selfless woman. She is remembered for her infectious smile and her gift of making everyone around her feel valued and amazing. She gave of herself generously, and those who knew her remember how she made them feel seen and cherished.
Dr. Usman was kind-hearted, gentle, calm, intelligent, and deeply caring. As a child he was known for his goofiness and silliness, and for making those around him laugh. He was a beautiful soul, and he is profoundly missed by his family and friends.
The Prophet (SAW) taught that when a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three things: ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them (Sahih Muslim). A water well is a classic form of sadaqah jariyah. It gives clean water to people and animals for years, long after the one who built it is gone. After his own mother passed away, the companion Sa’d ibn ‘Ubadah asked the Prophet (SAW) which charity was best, and he was told that giving water is. He then dug a well in her name (narrated in Sunan Abi Dawud and Sunan al-Nasa’i).
Every donation, whatever its size, becomes part of this well. When you give, you help a family in need of water, and you offer something that may continue to benefit Rehana and Usman for as long as the water flows. Each person who drinks from it becomes a source of reward that keeps reaching them.
Please give what you can, and share this with your family and friends so more people can take part. We ask Allah to accept this from all of us, to forgive Rehana and Usman, to grant them the highest place in Jannah, and to give Omar, the family, and all who loved them patience and strength.
Please keep Rehana, Usman, and Omar in your duas.
