Cycling for Palestine: Tour de Victoria 2025

On Saturday August 16th I will be racing the Tour de Victoria, a 140 km long cycling route with 2000 meters of elevation, to stand in solidarity with Palestine and raise money to provide life-saving essentials for families in Gaza and the West Bank. Thank you and free Palestine!

Even small amounts matter!

Donations go towards life-saving essentials such as meals and medical supplies for Palestinian families struggling against ongoing military occupation and genocide. Islamic Relief has been one of the few Canadian organizations working in the Gaza strip to consistently get their supplies through the blockade and directly to families in need.

Consider donating however much you can if you are able, as even small amounts will make a difference!

To put the ongoing genocide into perspective

Palestinian water usage has been highly restricted and controlled by the state of Israel for decades. Despite an abundance of natural water sources in Gaza, there are frequent water shortages purposefully induced by the IDF, most often during the hottest summer months. The average Canadian now uses more than 6 times the water than a Palestinian in Gaza has access to per day. During the Tour, I will drink around 2.5 liters of water and will lose roughly the same amount just from sweat.

Palestinians in Gaza have access to as few as 250 calories per day, while the absolute minimum needed for an adult to sustain themselves is around 2100 calories per day. During the race alone, I will burn over 3000 calories and will likely reach almost 5000 for the whole day.

The 140 km long Tour is longer than the entire perimeter of the Gaza strip. More than 65% of the strip is now directly controlled by the IDF, and the Palestinian population of around 2.1 million is crammed into fragmented areas totalling roughly the size of Vancouver city proper, which comparatively has only 0.6 million residents. These areas lacked the necessary infrastructure and housing to support so many people to begin with, and what little there was has been heavily damaged in sustained targeted bombings over the past 2 years.
