Rama Dawoud

Help Empower Vulnerable Children and Families in Bosnia with Rama

Service has always been important to me, and this Ramadan I’ve been given the opportunity to take that commitment further. I am fundraising $4,000 through Islamic Relief Canada’s Inspire program to support children and families in Bosnia & Herzegovina through long-term community initiatives. Every dollar raised goes directly toward program projects; not my personal travel costs.

SUPPORT VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

This Ramadan, I am fundraising in support of vulnerable children and families in Bosnia & Herzegovina through Islamic Relief Canada’s Inspire Program.
For many families, the challenges of food insecurity, limited access to education, and economic hardship remain ongoing realities. Through long-term development initiatives, Islamic Relief works to strengthen communities by providing educational support, psychosocial programs for children, home rehabilitation, and essential aid.
Your donation is more than a contribution, it is an opportunity to turn compassion into action. Together, we can help restore dignity, stability, and hope where it is needed most.

WHO IS INSPIRE?

The Inspire Volunteer Abroad Program by Islamic Relief Canada is a service-based initiative that allows volunteers to raise funds and engage directly with communities supported by Islamic Relief projects.
For over seven years, Inspire has brought together cohorts of volunteers who combine fundraising, awareness, and hands-on learning. The goal is not tourism, but it is meaningful service, education, and understanding how humanitarian and development work creates long-term impact.
Through this experience, volunteers learn directly from field teams and rightsholders while contributing to ongoing projects.

WHAT YOUR DONATION SUPPORTS

This fundraiser supports Islamic Relief Canada’s community development initiatives in Bosnia & Herzegovina, as well as global emergency efforts where need is greatest.
Funds raised contribute to:
• Educational workshops for children and youth
• Psychosocial support programs
• Rehabilitation of schools and homes
• Distribution of food and hygiene kits
• Orphan sponsorship initiatives

$1,080 of the funds raised sponsors an orphan for one year, while the remaining amount supports additional community projects in the region.

100% of donations go directly to program initiatives and beneficiaries.

WHAT I WILL BE DOING

During the program, volunteers will engage in:
• Supporting educational and psychosocial activities for children
• Visiting project sites and interacting with beneficiaries
• Participating in community service initiatives
• Learning from local teams about sustainable development and resilience-building
This experience allows us as volunteers to see how fundraising translates into tangible impact.

ISLAMIC RELIEF IN BOSNIA

Islamic Relief has been active in Bosnia & Herzegovina since 1993, implementing projects in food security, education, healthcare, livelihoods, and orphan care.
Following the war, Islamic Relief played a key role in rebuilding homes and schools and continues to prioritize support for vulnerable families and children through long-term development initiatives.
Today, programs focus on resilience-building, supporting orphans and vulnerable children, providing food security assistance, and strengthening household self-sufficiency.
