Help Our Fellow Orphaned Children in Gaza This Ramadan

My name is Hanna Omar and I have created this fundraiser to support the incredible work of Islamic Relief Canada of sponsoring orphaned children in Gaza during this special time of giving.

These children often face daily challenges accessing basic necessities such as food, clothing, and stability. Through orphan sponsorship programs supported by Islamic Relief Canada, we have the opportunity to help provide them with the support and care they deserve.

My goal is to raise $13,500 which will allow for the sponsoring of 10 orphans for an entire year. Sponsoring one orphan costs $90 per month, and our total fundraising goal includes the 14% overhead fees as well as the 2.4% payment processing fees. When donations are made online to Islamic Relief Canada, there is a 2.4% payment processing fee charged by the payment provider.

Donors have the option to cover this fee so that the full donation amount goes toward the cause rather than being reduced by transaction costs.

This ensures that the full sponsorship amount needed to support the 10 orphans for the year can go directly toward their care.

The last 10 days of Ramadan are among the most blessed nights of the year, when acts of charity and kindness hold even greater significance. As Muslims, we believe it is our responsibility to spread compassion, generosity, and goodness, especially to those who are most vulnerable.

Allah reminds us in the Qur'an, from Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 220:

“Upon this world and the Hereafter. And they ask you ˹O Prophet˺ concerning orphans. Say, ‘Improving their condition is best. And if you partner with them, they are bonded with you ˹in faith˺. And Allah knows who intends harm and who intends good. Had Allah willed, He could have made it difficult for you. Surely Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.’”

Through this fundraiser, I hope we can come together as a community to give these children hope, stability, and support for the year ahead. Even the smallest contribution can make a meaningful difference in a child’s life.
