Islamic Relief Canada
Ottawa for Bangladesh - Flood Emergency Campaign
Bangladesh is facing another devastating flood emergency. Since 5 July 2026, heavy monsoon rains and overflowing rivers have caused flash floods and landslides across 12 districts, affecting approximately 1.7 million people. Families have lost their homes, roads have been washed away, and many remain stranded without access to food, clean water, or shelter. Alhamdulillah, Islamic Relief has been serving the people of Bangladesh since 1991 with our main office in Dhaka. Ever since, we have carried out projects in 17 districts including Cox’s Bazar and Jamalpur, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Kurigram. Our work in Bangladesh focuses on sustainable development, community empowerment, and emergency relief. Through our 12 ongoing projects, Islamic Relief Canada aims to eliminate chronic levels of household poverty, build climate-resilient communities, improve access to safe water and sanitation, and tackle discrimination against women and girls, orphans, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Through the generosity of donors, Islamic Relief has reached over 1.7 million people with clean water and sanitation projects, emergency response, livelihood support, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani food distributions, disaster preparedness, and protection programs for vulnerable families. Right now, the greatest needs are emergency shelter, safe drinking water, cooked meals and food packages, hygiene kits, cash assistance where possible, and protection for the most vulnerable, especially children, the elderly, and displaced families.
