Who Are We?

The Inspire volunteer abroad program at Islamic Relief Canada is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home. Over the past 7 years, we have taken 61 cohorts to 14 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness while allowing them to serve their communities locally and globally.

What is this for?

Inspire Umrah is a powerful new initiative by Islamic Relief Canada that brings together the spirit of compassion and the sacred journey of faith. This unique program sends Turkish, Syrian, and Uyghur orphaned children and widowed mothers to perform their long-awaited Umrah.

For many of them, this is not only a spiritual milestone; it’s a healing experience after years of hardship, displacement, and grief.
Your donation will help cover essential costs of Umrah for the orphans and widows, including travel, accommodation, spiritual guidance, and basic needs during the trip. What will I be doing?

During this sacred journey, volunteers will:
Accompany and assist orphans and their guardians during the Umrah pilgrimage
Support logistical coordination and ensure the comfort and safety of participants
Create moments of connection and care through group reflections, supplications, and bonding activities
Engage in spiritual mentorship, helping young participants understand and appreciate the rituals of Umrah
Reflect as a group on the meaning of service, sacrifice, and compassion in Islam

Inspire Program

Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Before volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with.
While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment.
This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.
