Who are we?

The Inspire volunteer abroad program is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home.  Over the past 4 years, we have taken 17 cohorts to 7 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness, and serving their communities locally and globally.

The volunteers will be engaging directly with vulnerable communities and orphan children in Bosnia to learn about their situation, and to raise awareness.

Support our volunteers and take part in supporting this noble cause!

What is this for?

The funds raised will go towards Islamic Relief’s projects in Bosnia. This project in Bosnia will empower vulnerable individuals and communities and engage with orphan children.

What will I be doing?

Over the duration of the field study, we will focus on providing orphans with psychosocial support and educational activities in addition to the distribution of food and hygiene items and other community service activities.

Inspire Program

Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Prior to volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with. While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment. This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.

Islamic Relief: Bosnia

Islamic Relief has been working in Bosnia since 1993 and has implemented projects that address healthcare, food insecurity, education, livelihoods, and orphan care. After the war, we established an office in Sarajevo and served communities to rebuild homes and schools and provide Ramadan and Qurbani food packages.

Through our humanitarian and development projects, we implement food security, livelihood, non-food items, education, and psycho-social support. We prioritize the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. In 2005, we launched our orphans’ sponsorship program to provide assistance to child-headed households, girl children and homes with infants and younger children. We provide support to the household by offering skills training and development to guardians so that they can become self-sufficient.
