Empowering Our Mosques, Empowering Our Community

The MIA is not only focused on maintaining a space for daily prayers, but continues to offer developing and on-going social services. These social services help all ages and groups including the youth. Please help support the MIA during these times where we grow and to continue working toward the vision to become a one stop location community hub. The MIA's current and future services include: religious counseling, youth support and programming, parenting, crisis management, marriage services, funeral services, community domestic projects, emergency response during natural disasters and much more.

Please donate as we try to reach the goal of servicing our community.

For every $2 raised, Islamic Relief Canada will donate $1.

AboutĀ Manitoba Islamic Association

About

The Manitoba Islamic Association (MIA) traces its roots to the late fifties and early sixties of the 20th century, when Muslim immigrants to Manitoba came together to worship, learn and socialize. MIA was officially incorporated in 1969 and has grown from its humble beginnings to being the oldest and largest membership-based Islamic organization in Manitoba.

The MIA owns and operates the historic first mosque in Manitoba, located in old St. Vital and a modern mosque and community center, referred to as the Manitoba Grand Mosque, on Waverley Street. The MIA facilitates for Muslims in Manitoba the opportunity to practice their faith. In addition to religious services, the MIA offers the community educational programs for children and families, charitable assistance to those in need and social and cultural programs.Ā  We help our community members thrive as Muslims in Canada. The MIA is governed by an elected 9 member board.

Islamic Relief works with communities to strengthen their resilience to calamities, and we provide vital emergency aid when disasters occur.

We help the impoverished access basic services, including education, water and sanitation, as well as healthcare. We provide lasting routes out of poverty through our sustainable development schemes. Our integrated approach to progress is transforming communities worldwide.

We tackle the root causes of poverty and make sure that the worldā€™s most vulnerable people have real influence in both our programs and advocacy.

Our key values, of compassion, justice, custodianship, sincerity and excellence ā€“ a critical part of our Islamic faith - inspire us each and every day to create positive change and remember the sanctity of life.

In line with Islamic teachings on the value of every human life, we provide assistance to whoever needs it most, regardless of race, religion or gender. We work to transform and save lives of people in crisis both Canada and across the world.
