Fort McMurray Islamic Center, an essential pillar of support for our Muslim community, is undergoing transformative construction to enrich its services.
Alongside maintaining a serene prayer space, the Markaz is expanding to include essential facilities. We're building modern classrooms, a Wudhu area for ablution, and developing the basement to accommodate versatile spaces, such as activity rooms, a counseling room, and an Imam's office.
As we approach the culmination of our construction efforts, we appeal for your support to realize our vision of a fully multifaceted facility and community hub.

About Us
Markaz-Ul-Islam, is a Muslim Congregation and a registered Canadian Charity founded in 1984. It is situated in Fort McMurray, Alberta. There are two Masjids, one is located in the downtown area(9904 Gordon Avenue) and was built in 1989. The other Masjid has been an ongoing project since 2007 and was opened for use in 2018. It is located uptown(109 Abraham Pl.) .
Fort McMurray can be considered the heart of the Oil Sand Industry. The Muslim population in Fort McMurray has increased exponentially over the years. Muslims work in the oil sand industry and other sectors of public life including in the IT sector, medical services, engineering, accounting & finance, private businesses, transportation and the general service industry.
Islamic Relief works with communities to strengthen their resilience to calamities, and we provide vital emergency aid when disasters occur.
We help the impoverished access basic services, including education, water and sanitation, as well as healthcare. We provide lasting routes out of poverty through our sustainable development schemes. Our integrated approach to progress is transforming communities worldwide.
We tackle the root causes of poverty and make sure that the world’s most vulnerable people have real influence in both our programs and advocacy.
Our key values, of compassion, justice, custodianship, sincerity and excellence – a critical part of our Islamic faith - inspire us each and every day to create positive change and remember the sanctity of life.
In line with Islamic teachings on the value of every human life, we provide assistance to whoever needs it most, regardless of race, religion or gender. We work to transform and save lives of people in crisis both Canada and across the world.
