Support Syrian and Uygur Orphans and Refugees in Turkiye - Iqra
Who are we?
The Inspire volunteer abroad program at Islamic Relief Canada is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home. Over the past 4 years, we have taken 17 cohorts to 7 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness while allowing them to serve their communities locally and globally.
Through this experience, IRC volunteers will engage directly with Syrian and Uyghur orphan children in Turkiye in order to better understand their circumstances and raise awareness.
Support our volunteers and take part in supporting this noble cause!
What is this for?
The funds raised will go towards Islamic Relief’s projects in Turkiye. This project in Turkiye will empower vulnerable individuals and communities and engage with orphan children.
What will I be doing?
Over the duration of the field study, we will focus on providing orphans with psychosocial support and educational activities in addition to the distribution of food, clothes, and hygiene items and conduct other community service activities. I will participate in hosting an orphan summer camp that aims to educate and empower volunteers and children by incorporating psychosocial support programming to support them in developing key life skills. This includes activities that focus on character development, engaging educational activities, and a variety of other activities.
Inspire Program
Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Prior to volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with. While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment. This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.
Islamic Relief: Turkiye
Since 2012, Islamic Relief has been assisting Turkiye's most vulnerable populations and working to provide aid to both refugees and Turks in need. This work has remarkably changed the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. There are roughly 4 million refugees in Turkiye, with over 3.7 million of them having fled from Syria. Islamic Relief has been actively involved in assisting countless refugees and ensuring their well-being in Turkiye.
