This fundraiser is being organized by
The Inspire Volunteer Abroad Program
This year, I will join a volunteering abroad program with Islamic Relief Canada in South Africa.
The focus is on learning and engaging with vulnerable individuals and communities through various means including organizing educational activities for orphans, offering psychosocial support programs, and participating in community service projects such as school and/or home rehabilitation and distributing food and essential supplies.
Your donations will exclusively contribute to supporting the communities served and long-term projects implemented by Islamic Relief Canada in South Africa.
The funds raised will go towards Islamic Relief’s projects in South Africa. This project in South Africa will empower vulnerable individuals and communities and engage with orphan children. Besides supporting the Inspire program, funds raised will go towards improving access and quality of education to students.
Throughout the field study, we will focus on providing orphans with psychosocial support and educational activities in addition to distributing food, clothes, and hygiene items and conducting other community service activities.
I will also be visiting Islamic Relief projects in the region to better understand the work being done there.
The Inspire volunteer abroad program at Islamic Relief Canada is a unique opportunity that provides hands-on education to volunteers on the field and at home. Over the past 4 years, we have taken 26 cohorts to 9 different countries to learn from our teams and right-holders on the ground. This program focuses on having volunteers raise donations and awareness while allowing them to serve their communities locally and globally.
Through this experience, IRC volunteers will engage directly with vulnerable community members and orphans in South Africa in order to better understand their circumstances and raise awareness.
Support our volunteers and take part in supporting this noble cause!

Over the duration of the field study, we will focus on providing orphans with psychosocial support and educational activities in addition to house rehabilitation, distribution of food and hygiene items and other community service activities.
Islamic Relief Canada’s Volunteer Abroad Programs are a unique way to contribute to some of IR Canada’s international projects. Before volunteering abroad, selected volunteers to raise funds that go directly to the project they will be assisting with.
While on the field study, volunteers will be part of a collaborative program where they will take part in several activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, food distributions, beneficiary home visits, and building refurbishment.
This experience allows volunteers to see an existing IR Canada project, contribute to the project through their fundraising efforts, and positively interact with beneficiaries and project staff.

Islamic Relief has been working in South Africa since 2004, and has implemented several projects that address healthcare, food insecurity, education, livelihoods, and orphan care. Over the past 19 years, Islamic Relief’s operations in South Africa have been aimed at developing and creating sustainable long-term solutions for impoverished communities, including handing out provisional hampers. We prioritize the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. In 2005, we launched our orphans’ sponsorship program to provide assistance to households that are child-headed, and those that house female children, infants, and younger children. In order to do this, we provide guardians of the households the education and training they need to acquire the necessary skills to become self-sufficient.
Islamic Relief works with communities to strengthen their resilience to calamities, and we provide vital emergency aid when disasters occur.
We help the impoverished access basic services, including education, water and sanitation, as well as healthcare. We provide lasting routes out of poverty through our sustainable development schemes. Our integrated approach to progress is transforming communities worldwide.
We tackle the root causes of poverty and make sure that the world’s most vulnerable people have real influence in both our programs and advocacy.
Our key values, of compassion, justice, custodianship, sincerity and excellence – a critical part of our Islamic faith - inspire us each and every day to create positive change and remember the sanctity of life.
In line with Islamic teachings on the value of every human life, we provide assistance to whoever needs it most, regardless of race, religion or gender. We work to transform and save lives of people in crisis both Canada and across the world.
Let us share the khair from the blessings Allah has bestowed upon us.
